[Sic] Possum expresses how things are exactly what the are suppossed to be. No matter how base, our personal constructs will not wish it away.

This is what I make, this is what I do.
Indoctrinated into Southern culture within the environs of a state mental institution, my art involves the reclamation and understanding of those cultures. Vignettes reveal souls at a distressing cusp. While exploring methods of material manipulation, the figures within the paintings are not portayals, but manifestations of my emotional response.
My current works generate these responses in three-diminsional space. One of two recent pieces, Structure, involves the reversal of interior/exterior space, drawing upon both the 'cracker' house and the institutionalized state house for its form. Another, Substance, deals with the abstraction of a structure and the body into planes, returning to the womb the body's substance in the form of blood and milk.
