These are rather small, dumb marsupials that densely poplulate my native South. Proper spelling being ‘oppsum’. Who has ever heard of a silent "O"? So, due to the silence, we tend to just ignore "O" when spelling also.

Although equiped with viciously sharp teeth, the possum will invariably run away when confronted. If cornered, the possum will curl up ‘dead’ and shit on itself. When properly cleaned (inside and out), it is a delicacy.
